I was first introduced to the Crime thriller writer that is Catherine Ryan Howard through Readers First, and I have gone on to read every book she has written since, almost as soon as I can get to them.

She is a very dependable author, who, whilst I am yet to write a 5-star glowing review of, hasn't yet let me down with very good and interesting takes on the crime genre.

The Nothing Man is another solid novel. It is notably different from her earlier works as the format is different- as a reader we are treated to the story, and excerpts from the Fictional victim's book of the same name.
This did initially put me off slightly, in that some of the changes seemed to occur in strange places, or broke the flow of the reading, and it consequently took me a little longer to make my way through it.

I'm very glad I persevered though as it all starts to make more sense and interweave.
The Character of Eve Black was very well written, and the concept of this book being about a book written to catch the killer was actually superb.
The book is pretty much focused on Eve,The Nothing Man and Eve's book, with some supplementary characters that add depth and context without slowing the plot.

I would encourage people to read this and stick with it, any confusion or stilted sounding segments in the first third are quickly resolved into a deep and compelling crime novel that leads to a satisfying and logical ending.
