Having read Rewind I was very keen to read The Nothing Man. It is different from most crime stories as from the start we know the identity of the serial attacker. Eve Black was the sole survivor of an attack on her family when she was only twelve years old. As she grew up she felt she was always identified as the girl who survived. Nearly twenty years after the attack she is encouraged to write a book about her experiences and does so hoping it will lead to the discovery of the man who murdered her parents and sister. Jim Doyle, the killer, is a security guard in a shopping centre and is horrified to find the book. He tells his story alongside Eve's. This is a book well worth reading with several unexpected twists.
