This book varies from other crime stories since we know the name of the serial offender from the outset. When she was just twelve years old, Eve Black was the sole survivor of an assault on her home. She felt when she grew up that she was still known as the surviving child.
She is motivated to write a book about her memories nearly twenty years since the attack and does so in the hope that it will lead to the discovery of the man who murdered her parents and sister. Jim Doyle, the murderer, is a shopping center security guard and is afraid of discovering the book. Alongside Eve's, he shared his story. With some unpredictable surprises, this is a novel well worth reading.
The writing style was good, the book cover is really captivating and the title is mysterious and draws you in. Overall I was really keen on reading The Nothing Man after reading Rewind.
