A novel about a secret agent where the main character is female, makes for a very intriguing read, especially one juggling motherhood and a marriage whilst keeping her real work a secret from her nearest and dearest.
The first couple of pages were fast paced, good dialogue and gripping. Especially when you learn that Lex’s role in the secret service is as a government assassin.
Unfortunately, when back to the underground offices of her agency, trying to follow the different names of the various agencies and who may be a snake or a rat, or so forth, the story really started to dwindle for me. There were too many new characters introduced in a short space and it was hard to follow their relevance to Lex.
The saving grace so far is a very cute toddler.
I would however persevere further with this book just to see if the earlier excitement returns.
