I was gripped throughout that extract, but had the overwhelming sense that again i was reading a book 2 in a series - which it turned out it was, i didn't realise this going in. You probably don't need to have read the first book to enjoy this one as it seems to reference the bits from the original story enough for you to know what's going on, but the completist in me can't read a series out of order - so if i am lucky enough to win this one i will definitely need to get the first one read before then (I've ordered a second hand copy already in expectation).
Great main character, juggling family life with being in a specialised unit of the security services, tasked with doing the dirty jobs no one else wants. Breathtaking opening, before settling into introducing us more to the characters. I am hooked and definitely want to read more, wondering if by the title it implies the actual nursery where her daughter goes will have some sort of deeper involvement with the plot.
