I didn't expect to love this book, it's not the normal genre of book that I gravitate towards but I cannot wait to read the first one (although you get spoilers for what happens in the first book in this one, it's not essential for you to have read it, plus there isn't a rundown of the whole detailed story line so if you pick this one up first definitely go get the first as well). How Asia Mackay has written the protagonist, Lex, is amazingly done. She is such a lovable character and although I'm sure not many people can relate to her being an assassin (hopefully!), many mothers will be able to relate to the struggles of juggling a full-time job with being a parent to a two year old. This book has the right balance of humour and suspense and it was just SO GOOD! Although all opinions in this review are my own, I would like to thank Zaffre and Readers First for an advanced copy.
