I’m a total sucker for thrillers but I don’t think I’m a pushover and am quite picky. When I read the preview of this I was really interested in reading as it was different from general spy thrillers and I thought it would be good to see which way it went.

I hadn’t read the first book in the series so didn’t really know where it was going to go and how the characters all fit together. However, I must say I really did enjoy the story. It moves along at pace and Lex and Jake and the rest of the team at Platform 8, the security services elite assassin squad, are really likeable. There is some good humour thrown in and I was really impressed with how bright Lex’s daughter, Gigi, is for such a young child! I did find myself getting confused with some of the characters who cropped up, the various nicknames and the rats, snakes and ghosts (you have to read it!) and I had figured out the dastardly villain quite early on but none of that spoiled my read. Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended. Now I must read the first book in the series.
