I really enjoyed The Nursery. I hadn't read the first book in this series but it didn't affect my understanding or enjoyment - a quick recap was enough for me to pick up the premise of Platform Eight. I loved the humour and Lex's struggles to deal with a job that requires her to be on call and carrying out dangerous missions while coordinating childcare and keeping her husband in the dark as to what her job actually entails.
I did suss out the ending ahead of time, but it didn't put me off. What could have been an overly complex plot was well done and all tied together. I thought the way the two parts of Lex's life were literally woven together, with her child's nursery playing such a huge part, was very clever.
I would definitely read more in this series to find out what happens next with Lex and her family.
