This book seems to have cracked the formula for pleasing a number of potential audiences.

Firstly you have a taut, twisty spy thriller. Well-plotted, contemporary, plausible and with just enough nods to current affairs to fire the brain and join the dots to the latest news headlines.

Wrapped around the espionage is a stressed-mummy tale. Troubles with kids, nursery, gossipy mums and a strained marriage all frame the action and start to interact with it.

Two usually separate audiences all covered and satisfied by the one story. I can see this being handed between couples on a beach holiday with everyone enjoying the contents.

Overall I found this book to be a refreshing modern story. It is well written with believable, likeable characters and I look forward to reading more of Asia Mackay's work.
