This is a fast-paced thriller with a domestic twist, which is that the female spy / protector of the realm is trying to balance saving the country with home life, including a marriage that is stuck and childcare issues.
I wasn't initially keen but found it surprisingly gripping. The "reveal" when the bad guy is outed actually took me by surprise and I only guessed just pages before it was revealed.
Some of the security aspects made me think too, about what we don't know about how the country is run and the security secrets that go on behind the scenes. I thought the female characters were particularly well-developed (the group who eventually became good friends in the "partners" group) and I really warmed to a number of them.
