I was intrigued by this book as it is being marketed as the next 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine', which is one of my favourite books. Although this story seems nothing like Eleanor Oliphant from what I've read so far, I think the main character, Augusta, has been written with some similar quirks - she's observant and harsh in her judgements, a precocious child and very clever.

The beginning is interesting, however, and I liked stepping back into the late 90s, remembering my own childhood and teenage years.

I'm a bit on the fence with this one. It has a beautiful cover and an interesting start, but I can't quite identify with the characters yet. I'd like the opportunity to read more and see where the story leads, though.
