This is a book where I will fall in love with the main character.

Opening up the extract to read, the first line shocked and gained my interest instantly. As the story goes on, we learn more about Augusta and her life. At the start of the story the fluid and almost poetic rhyme to the writing, where Augusta interjects with meanings and origins of words. I adore the character development of Augusta. She's quirky, Inquisitive and has no appeal for the normal world and fitting in. Her mind is very much 'out there' somewhere which I can relate a lot to within my childhood. Her love of words and language grips me as I have a love of book, which was my 'out there' as a child. I found real love and connect with Augusta so far.

The book is written in a very reminiscing tense which I love but felt that at one point it did lose my interest towards the end. I failed to see how it was crucial to the story of the development of the plot but I wonder if this will be determined later in the book, as it's hard to judge so far.

I feel the audience for this story is for young readers. Which although the cover of the book would not entice me to pick it up, it probably would for the audience it appeals to.

I enjoy when the new characters are introduced adding more questions about how the story will unfold for our inquisitive main character. I love the added contrast between two different worlds and the problems they encounter.

After reading this extract I CANNOT wait to learn more about Augusta, I adore her. And that first line of the book is still stuck in my head, I have to know more. This is a lovely easy read!
