It’s clear from the very first page that Augusta is very different from the rest of us. She has a fascination with language and the sounds of words, as well as how they are formed.

From a young age, she learns the dictionary and picks her favourite country based on how it sounds. It’s nice to see the library playing a key part in her life at the start of the novel.

For me, this book was a little tricky to get into to begin with. I didn’t feel like I was being carried away with the narrative which was a huge shame. I do think it’s got potential though and will be a good book for those who really like to analyse characters and why they change.

When tragedy hits, it’s obviously going to effect her. The book is well written but it just wasn’t one I loved.
