The story itself is one told from two alternating perspectives in not just different towns or countries but from two different continents. As such the reader is drawn into analysing the differences and similarities in both the protagonists, the environments and the narrative structure used to good effect by the author.
Love, loss, fear, anguish and triumph are dotted through the stories of Augusta and Parfait. We know that they should be together and we hope that the author will take us to that resolution but there are so many obstacles, so much in their way and only so many pages.
