I absolutely loved this book. Lyrical, evocative, thought provoking, filled with beautiful imagery and all delivered with both heartbreak and hope - it's very fitting that the surname of the main character is Hope! I felt completely immersed in the story and the character development was fantastic, now I've finished the book they almost feel like they could be friends. Augusta, the main character, would be the same age as myself and so her experiences of growing up in Britain in the 1990s were something I could understand and empathise with, which helped me feel in tune with the book. It all feels very real and down to earth, which I loved. I'll be seeking out more Joanna Glen novels for sure, I do hope she releases another one soon!
