Born to British parents Stanley and Jilly Hope, Augusta and Julia are twins
one born in July and the other in August. Their family live an ordinary life in an ordinary place, but Augusta feels like she is different, that she doesn't fit in, she loves to read the dictionary and writes poetry, she asks lots of questions and is keen to discover things about the world. This book is told as two parallel stories, the story of Augusta and the story of Parfait, I must admit at first I found this a little bit hard to follow and slow as I couldn't really see how the two were related, but as the book went on it became clearer. I thought this was very well written, and interesting, I enjoyed reading it.
