I can see what the author was trying to achieve with this book, and I really wanted to like Augusta Hope, but I ultimately didn't find her believable as a character. She was just trying too hard to be different and quirky that she almost became a caricature of herself.
I enjoyed the authors style of writing and the story flowed smoothly and at a decent pace, although I did find my interest waining towards the middle of the story. The ending however was quite surprising and I really enjoyed how everything played out. I think the second part of the book really upped its game and I found myself engrossed and not wanting to put it down.
I loved the cover and the gold leaf design, it made it really stand out on my bookshelf.
