The cover was a good start, with an almost ghostlike reflection of someone on wet sand.
The book itself reminded me a little of "Before I Go To Sleep" to begin with but rapidly developed its own character. The doppelganger idea is an intriguing prospect, possibly harking back to Celtic mythology but in a very high tech setting.
