I really enjoyed this book. It tells the story of Kate, who is recovering from a car accident which left her with a brain injury. Prior to her accident Kate was an artist, who also worked for the police as a super recogniser. Her brain injury has left her unable to paint like she used to, and her super recogniser skills are now non-existent. However, she has been lucky enough to meet Rob (now her boyfriend), who has nursed her back to health in his house on the Cornish coast. Rob has ensured that Kate has had nothing but the best care to try and aid her recovery. Then, one weekend when he returns from working all week in London, Kate looks at Rob and is convinced that he has been replaced by someone else....is her mind irreparably damaged by the car accident? Or, is it trying to tell her something? Suffice to say that not much more can be said without giving away spoilers, but this is an enjoyable and eminently readable thriller. It is told from the viewpoint of 3 characters - Kate and 2 others (their names appear at the top of each chapter), and the chapters are short making the book a nice pacy 'I'll just read one more chapter' kind of read. The storyline, with its twists and turns, is utterly plausible in this day and age. Highly recommended.
