Kate was a super recogniser, now she must establish if her boyfriend Rob has been replaced by an evil doppleganger.

Great characterisation of Kate, Rob and the other players. Kate’s vulnerability is excellent, works really well to emphasise the danger posed by those who seek to bring down Rob. It would have been good to see more strength from Kate though. The book relies on male characters such as Rob to be the strong ones, which works to the plot but is a cliche. The dynamic of Rob and Kate does work really well though.

What’s slightly less believable is the way that Rob meets Kate. They meet in a hospital, where Kate is recovering with a brain injury, he homes her in Cornwall and supports her recovery, even as a philanthropist millionaire this stretches the imagination. But it does support the plot.

The story unravels smoothly, going through various mostly predictable twists. The ending is a little ragged and doesn’t make a lot of sense, the police officers don’t use much common sense, leaving a serious questions leading to an ending which is hard to believe. The story is otherwise an excellent and quick read.
