This sounds like the premise for a great thriller, but as a whole it just didn't work for me.

The ideas great but writing lets it down (I lost count of how many times I read the phrase 'super-recogniser') and the characters are cliched (everyone needs a blunt no-nonsense northern friend right?) and honestly difficult to like.

The plot meanders at the beginning and is full of obvious red-herring characters and by the end I honestly didn't care what had happened. The ending is ridiculous and tries to cram too much explanation in too few pages so you feel like all that build up could have been condensed to leave from for at least the big reveal being given some space to be fully explained.
