Wow adored The Other You by J. S. Monroe. It is the first book i have read by Monroe and I was suitably impressed.I would certaintly have no qualms in recommending this to us "Thriller Seekers" out there.
It is indeed a rare gem when you find a talented and imaginative author that delivers a fast paced thriller and The Other You delivered this in bucket loads. Easy to read chapters that are written by one of the main character's perspective which adds depth and weight to the plot -So do not be put off by the lenghty look of this book.
Meet Kate who is recovering from an almost fatal car accident which has left her with memory trauma of no longer recognising faces. This is so distressing especially as Kate worked as a super recogniser for the Wiltshire Police prior to her accident.
She is currently convalescing with her new partner Rob who is a self made millionaire in the field of computer technology. Rob himself admits to being somewhat of a "techno-geek" and works away alot due to his work commitments. Rob shares with Kate, his growing paranoia that his doppleganger is somewhere out there in the world. He has already met him once years ago in Thailand and feels that it is just a matter of time before they meet again with dire consquences. The doppleganger will take over his very exsistence and soul.
Imagine the terrifying confusion and horror when Kate collects Rob from the airport and his behaviour amd personna appear to have changed. Even her dog Stretch shys away from him. Is Kate imagining this? Is Kate suffering from another memory lapse?? Or could Rob have been replaced by his dopplerganger????
Now begins a race against time to discover what has happened and brings forward an array of unlikely hero's to Kate's aid.
