I think I’m against popular opinion here. A good, no great premise, but I just didn’t find it convincing. Kate feels that her boyfriend has been replaced by a double. It’s a pretty long book and perhaps if it was a regular sized thriller that would have made it seem a bit better. I thought it slow and I felt I wanted to get a big key and wind it up. I didn’t think it was convincing and how someone would be so sure that her boyfriend had been replaced by a doppelgänger but she carried on as normal apart from phoning her friend and asking her to check him out - well, that stretches belief. And how sure would you need to be before telling anyone? And wouldn’t you head for the hills apart from running him to the train station? I was really looking forward to this but sadly for me it’s a no go.
