Freya lands her dream job at a start up company in San Francisco. She’s young and ambitious and there she meets Jay and she is immediately attracted to him. Sparks fly but the one fly in the ointment is Nicole, already established in the company and beautiful ... a threat ... and determined to make Freya’s life a misery. After a prank goes wrong, Nicole is found murdered.

Freya starts to receive menacing texts on her phone and, in a small company, how long will it be until someone finds out who killed Nicole?

I loved the sound of this book and I was immediately hooked. The story flits from before Freya starts her job to her first few days there to after the murder and beyond. In amongst this we learn of Isla, a reporter, who is sent to cover the story. She is battling her own demons and is determined to get to the bottom of who killed Nicole. The chapters flit between the two women and, as the reader, we slowly start to piece together what happens.

I liked the way the story was told. It’s a young, energetic company and everyone is ambitious. Are they friend or foe? Freya’s boss, the enigmatic Julian, who seemed so supportive at the beginning, starts to behave strangely and Freya doesn’t know who she can trust. She is harbouring her own secrets and her flat mates are determined to keep her safe.

I really enjoyed the book. I did work out how it would end so I have taken a star off but I liked the modern, 'edginess' of the book and the fact it dealt with issues such as workplace bullying, sexism and the effects of social media which are worries for many in our daily lives.
