I like the silhouette of a house against a darkening sky on the cover. It could belong in many different countries but the novel rapidly establishes Leah and Emmie living as incomers in rural Pennsylvania.

The locale is made very real in the prologue and some of Leah's history and her views give her substance and interest. A fair sprinkling of dialogue gives an immediacy to the scenes.

I'm already caught up in the story and want to see what happens next.
