Thanks to Readers First for providing me with a physical copy of The Perfect Stranger for review! I love reading thrillers and am currently on a reading binge of them, time of year maybe? I don't know what is to blame there but seeing the cover got me feeling excited but also a little nervous to see what would happen. The story follows a disgraced journalist called Leah who leaves Boston for a small town in Pennsylvania to take up a teaching job. She isn't going alone, another woman called Emmy is going with her. Things are alright until someone who looks similar to Leah is brutally attacked by a lake and then, Emmy goes missing. Leah is afraid and so works with local detective Kyle to track down her friend. But lots of residents and other detectives start to wonder: Did Emmy really exist as a person?

I found the pacing to be a little slow for me, the ending was the most confusing part of the whole reading experience and had to go back several times regarding the whole Emmy situation. Sadly, I didn't feel as scared as I would like to feel whilst reading a thriller however, I did feel that the dialogue was strong. I do feel that if you are new to reading thrillers, this may be a good one to dip your toes into. However for me, this wasn't quite what I expected.
