The storyline is original and compelling but, in my opinion, this book is not easy to read.
Journalist, Leah Stevens, loses her job in Boston when one of her stories results in the suicide of a college professor and she refuses to divulge her source. When she meets a friend, Emmy Grey, who she hasn't seen for 8 years, Leah decides to move to Pennsylvania and retrain as a teacher and move in with Emmy. However, 2 dead bodies are found and when Emmy goes missing, Leah realises that she doesn't know much about Emmy and her life at all.
The narrative jumps about in time leaving the reader confused about what is going on. In addition, the author uses punctuation indiscriminately, particularly commas and dashes which interrupts the smooth reading of this book. I found reading this bookhard work as I needed to read most sentences more than once to check the meaning.
