I have read several books of a similar type to this one and each time I get a bit annoyed with the main character and how they've gotten themselves into this situation.
Leah Stevens, our main character, has moved to rural Pennsylvania to share a house with a friend that she hadn't seen for 8 years until recently. Her friend, Emmy Grey, has told her that nothing can be in her name as she is just out of a bad relationship and doesn't want her ex to be able to track her down. Even the car Emmy is using belongs to someone else.
They don't see much of each other as their schedules are totally different so Leah doesn't think much when she doesn't see Emmy for a few days until she realises that the notes she has been leaving for her are still there. This, combined with the recent attack on someone who looks remarkably similar to Leah leads to a chain of events which in turn cause Leah to question everything Emmy has ever told her.
