I've read a lot of crime thriller novels over the years but I think this is the first I've seen from a journalists perspective instead of a victim or someone from law enforcement. The flashback scene as a first chapter is always great at building suspense and interest. After reading the sample I am definitely interested in reading the full book.
I'm not the biggest fan of the cover as I don't find it very eye-catching nor does it tell you much about the book.
