Crime fiction is one of my favourite choices and the beginning of this one (only 18 pages!) is promising. A woman's body is found floating in the Thames. Sophie Kent, a newspaper crime reporter with lots of personal baggage, is under pressure to write a lengthy article to fill a slot in her paper. Her relationship and reputation with the police and her colleagues from previous cases are obviously going to become an issue. I look forward to reading how the story develops.
I wasn't sure what the cover showed initially but then worked out that it is a blurred image of a naked woman with a mutilated hand and red material covering her torso. Not sure how relevant this will be to the story as the body found in the opening pages of the book was clothed in black but don't think the cover would attract me to the book necessarily.
