This is my type of book. Although I haven't read the first book in the series, it didn't matter as this can be read as a standalone.
The main character in the book is Sophie Kent, a journalist for a national newspaper, who refuses to believe that her friend and colleague, Charlie Swift is guilty of the murder of the partner of a law firm whose body has been found floating in a pond. Although Charlie has been married to Emily for less than a year, he appears to have changed since the death of his mother a few months earlier. As Sophie investigates the murder and Charlie's disappearance she becomes convinced that Charlie must be guilty after all.
The storyline is complex and tortuous - edge of the seat stuff with a dramatic finale.
I will definitely read the previous book, Breaking Dead, as soon as possible.
