The Perfect Victim is the kind of thriller that grabs you by the neck and doesn't let go - in fact, it is likely to leave you broken and bleeding on the floor at the end, in need for a good long time in a darkened room to get yourself back together again.

Every character here seems to live a miserable existence, and it makes the reading seem rather voyeuristic as you have a bird's eye view of their depressing circumstances. There is not a lot of humour in these pages folks, so if that is what you are looking for then this is not going to be for you. However, it is compelling, tense, wonderfully twisty... and twisted... and will keep you turning the pages until the breathless end.

I have not read the first Sophie Kent book, but was able to get what I needed from this one for the story to make sense, although I would like to go back and fill in some of the gaps in the background story all the same.

Dark, twisty and delicious!
