All the right ingredients for a good read!

The cover of this book instantly appealed to me; I love slightly 'dark' Victorian-set novels, and this one looks very promising. The first two chapters set up the story very well - a bullying, abusive husband and his unlucky but perhaps unconventional wife, with a third woman entering the scene to cause further problems. I am interested to read more about the pharmacy as well; I've not read a book set in a Victorian pharmacy, but would love to learn more. I'm a huge fan of Sarah Waters, so am hoping this will provide the same kind of bawdy Victorian melodrama!
