There were a few parts of this book that don't really interest me as much, for example, the pharmacy. I was much more intrigued by the protagonists' marriage to Alexander, and how there appears to be little to no love between them. There were some moments that left me wanting to scream at her husband! Like how he was disgusted by her wanting sex, even though he wanted it too?! And how she couldn't eat the pastry she wanted because the high levels of zinc are bad for women.

I found the scene where her maid learns to read very touching, and I'm happy that Rebecca may have found a friend to help her get through the frustrations of her marriage. I don't believe that the woman in the green dress is her husband's mistress - I think there's something more to it than that, and I'm excited to find out what.
