could not put this book down. Tait's writing flows effortlessly on the page, dragging you into the sordid underbelly of the Victorian Edinburgh she has created within these pages. This book handles subjects such as Drug Addiction, domestic violence and assault with such delicacy. Her descriptions of the perpetrators and anti-heroes during these acts make you hate them, which I'm sure is her intention. I found myself cheering the main character of Rebecca in those last chapters. Although not a book I would have picked up usually, especially had I known fully of the subject matter it contained, I am so glad I did. Gripping.
