After being greatly intrigued by the cover and the first look, I'm pleased to say that this book did not dissappoint, in fact it surpassed my expectations.
I found that the narrative flowed really well as it gradually drew you into the life of Rebecca, the pharmacists wife. She turns out to be a much stronger and smarter character than the book portrays her at first and ,although the story is quite dark and menacing at times it is actually quite an uplifting book with an air of mystery running through it too.
There is an element of comedy in the naming and parallel activities of some of the characters such as the terrible Mr Badcock and some of Rebecca's actions and the ease with which she achieves them were perhaps a little tenuous given the time period and the constraints women were under.
Overall though it was an entertaining read.
