I’ve had this book sitting in my cupboard for ages and I finally got round to reading it this summer. I’ve always been interested by the Victorian era and the difference between the two gender roles and the power struggle between them so I knew that I would love this book. I did find it a little hard to get into, but once I was a few chapters in, it was quite addictive. It’s quite scary how this potentially was a true story back in those days and how they dabbled with drugs, not knowing the full force, power and danger behind them.
The characters are interesting and all them their own quirky personality traits.
I’ve not read anything by this author before but I would be interested in trying another novel
