This is a book set in the nineteenth century in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is about the wife of a pharmacist who has strange and unconventional desires, thoughts and feelings. In an aid to cure his wife the pharmacist prescribes his wife a drug, heroin. This causes things to appear not as they seem. I really enjoyed this book, the sneak peak at least, and am really Intrigued to read on and delve more into this world of mystery and pharmaceuticals. I am a big fan of the mystery genre and am always looking for new books. I also love books set in the past particular the nineteenth and twentieth century as I find that it is always really interesting to hear about the gruesome and more often that not fiendish ways of the past civilians that once roamed the streets. The cover of the book is also lush and are a sure fire way to grab the readers attention..
