This book is probably about mystery walls appearing, linked to the abduction of a teen girl. So what is it? Horror? There’s a distinct lack of clarity in the writing that doesn’t highlight genre, and it’s definitely not comparable to Stephen King as falsely advertised. It’s not a James Herbert either.

The plot leads us all over the place, news articles about paranormal walls, a girl gets abducted by a friend of the family, some paranormal writers/investigators rock up. But the characters don’t make much of a presence, the abduction had no impact as there was no real interest in the preservation of the girl who was like a cardboard cut out. Ex married couple Kirsty and Nolan had little to warm me to their characters, nothing to dislike either, bland.

The mystery also did not establish itself, tough in 30 pages to be sure, but the mystery aspects that did happen were benign, one read as a dodgy air bnb review: A bang happened, then I went outside, when I returned my phone had fell on the floor and smashed, one star.

The summary has some promise as a story. If the author can pull the rest of this together smoother and links each story together better then it’s worth a read. It’s not overly original either, so I wouldn’t pick this one up from what I’ve read.
