I was very excited to receive this book. After hearing a lot about it, I was sure that it was going to be one for me.
However, if I'm completely honest, it ended up being a just okay read for me. It took a while to get going, and when it did the plot was not at all what I was expecting. It did have some good parts and the plot in general held my interest at least enough to finish it - however it wasn't nearly as spooky as I was expecting, and focused instead more on the witchcraft elements of the story.
I think, to be fair, that maybe the problem was that I'd hyped it in my head a bit too much. Comparisons to Stephen King had me expecting too much.
I will say that I enjoyed the characters, though. Overall an okay read, if you like this sort of thing generally.
