Loses momentum halfway through

I haven’t read the first book in this series ‘The Anomaly’ but you don’t seem to have needed to read that one in order to understand ‘The Possession’. The actual quality of writing in this book is really good at the beginning, which made the characters believable and set the scene perfectly. Unfortunately, it seems like this book ran out of momentum about halfway through and loses pretty much all the suspense and spookiness that was originally set up. It may just be that, for me, the story just seemed to be taking too long to fully unwind, as more and more kept being added and I found myself counting down the pages until the book finally ended. It’s sad because I think the quality of writing at the beginning seems to be put on the back burner and instead way too much content is put in the book instead to try and gain back some of the suspense but just made it almost unreadable.
Although all opinions in this review are my own, I would love to thank Zaffre and Readers First for an advanced publication copy.
