I would give this book zero stars if I could because it is the first book that I haven’t finished in several years. I was really excited to read this, it being recommended by, and in the style of Stephen King, but much to my disappointment it merely felt like a poor man’s imitation of King.
Literally by the second page, I was already finding ‘The Possession’ too contrived.
The writing was so long-winded that it was, as my former English teacher used to put it, a case of ‘Why use one word when 50 will do?’ Unfortunately, none of these words seemed to be amounting to anything.
The build up to whatever was going to to happen took so long that it felt like reading Paradise Lost, which is, let’s face it, an acquired taste.
When the build up was still building 5 chapters in, I just stopped caring!
