This is the second book by Michael Rutger in the Anomaly series. I have previously read the first book and I really enjoyed it. The Possession has the same characters as before and this time they are investigating a series of spiralling stone walls which seem to have a presence about them and they are again filming for their You Tube Video Series called The Anomaly Files. In the same town, as they arrive to do the filming, there is a sense of suspicion towards them as there is a young girl who has recently gone missing without trace. This book is a bit slow to get started but once you get to about halfway, you won't be able to put it down. It's a bit like an old American movie where the street is deserted and there is big balls of tumble weed blowing up the main area, crossed with early episodes of "The X Files" and stories of the Pendleton witches in the UK and in some instances parts of the Exorcist film. Many strange and sometimes scary things happen in the day and also at night (this gave me nightmares one night) and the team are pushed to the limit to find out the truth about what happened to the missing schoolgirl Alaina and things don't always seem to add up. What is the story of her mother, does it have some resemblance on what is happening? Are the things they are seeing real or figments of their imagination? A scary at times thriller, some parts are a bit hard to get your head around and understand, but all in all makes an ok read.
