I was really pleased and interested by this opening sample, which kept my focus. The novel begins with a reminiscence about the narrator's experience, as a student living near the Cowley Rd in Oxford. They attend a student party, where the atypical and striking Dana (with her incredible dress sense) draws the narrator (and the reader) in. There are some interesting layers of perspective on offer - female author, male narrator, female-led society with strong female characters. I would like to read more. The cover is ok - I like the pink shade but I feel the design as a whole is a little plain - I would not choose the book in a shop based on first impressions of the cover alone.
