Fascinating premise, but ...

The concept of a world where women are in power is fascinating and I would be interested to see how the author plays around with assumptions, stereotypes and perhaps alternative histories. The cover, too, is striking; the bold colour and clear lines representative of the kind of power the blurb indicates. The first couple of chapters were not particularly engaging, though, and I was a bit disappointed. There was quite a bit of exposition in the first section, albeit through dialogue, and I didn't particularly warm to any of the characters.
