When I first read the the few pages I was quite eager to continue on, to discover a world which goes against the sort of patriarchal hierarchy that our society has created over the years. I went along and bought my own copy to see if it really was worth the read! However I soon came to discover it was quite full of violence and hatred. Dana is quite the character, and in this book we see her and her crew start this upcoming revolution. As far as I loved the idea of a dystopian feminist book, I feel that the book itself had gonna far out of hand, the story had started to to darker turns and the feminist view started to get a little overboard. Dana had brought out a new system where women were the superior race, and how men should give all their faith and respect towards them. However, I do believe that the Quickening had potential and that it could’ve been one of my faves if it hadn’t taken such brutal aspects. It somewhat takes a 1984 approach, so if your a fan of that then this may be something for you. However, (in my opinion) I prefer 1984 to the Quickening. Overall, I thinks it’s a great read although it may of not been for me
