Avoid this book for the following reasons (not written in any particular order):
1. Disturbing - contains animal and human cruelty.
2. It's £18.99 and not worth the price at all.
3. It has a slow plot, no character development and the ending is awful. In short, it's not that engaging.
4. It's NOT like 1984 because THAT is well written, has a great plot and character development. The Quickening is a completely different book in every way.
5. The characters are not likeable.
6. The point, I think, the author is trying to make is that everyone should be equal, because a minority seems to be always mistreated by society, is not crystal clear. If I'm correct, the point needs to be spelt out in writing otherwise this is an extremely hateful book.
7. If you are a sensitive person who wants to avoid trauma, avoid this book. You're welcome.
