Dystopian and disturbing- exactly what it says on the tin!
Thank you to Readers First and the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book.
I really enjoyed The Quickening, described as a dystopian thriller.
I found this to be a fascinating read, I won’t rehash the the blurb here, but I found the back stories of each character fascinating and beautifully interwoven with the “now”.
The main characters are Dana, Arthur and Victoria, each with a very distinctive voice. I think I actually felt most for Arthur, whose life had changed immensely, losing his freedoms and choices.
Each location was well set and described, with excellent character presentation.
I have to admit to being a little disappointed by what I felt to be an abrupt ending, but I’m hoping that means there will be a sequel!
All in all, an excellent read, I have no hesitation in recommending The Quickening as a thought provoking, at times disturbing, read.
