I enjoyed this book and the ending wasn't what I expected and was a good plot twist. The book is set in the future when life is extremely different, the woman are the leaders and men are second class citizens. The author explains the setting and how the new world works very well. The characters were easy to relate to and the author does a great job of giving plenty of background history to each of them. She also explains how the current situation occured, which is sometimes lacking in other books. Some sections of this book I found quite disturbing, especially the ' torture' scenes. If the author wanted them to shock then she definitely did this! I personally felt that things were taken a little too far for my personal taste but understood what she was trying to portray. The book is definitely a page turner and makes you want to carry on reading.I would definitely read further books by this author.
