The quickening was an absolutely incredible read and proved to be so disturbing yet compelling at the same time! This has been one of my favourite reads of the year so far!
This book is a twisting and exhilarating book that is sure to keep you on your toes from the outset! The quickening, is a governing and ruler power for a newfound society which is created and catered to the protection of women. However, in order to maintain control on the part of women, the liberties and freedom of men have been subsided. We see the main characters Arthur and Dana as they navigate this new society which has put a spin on the world as it is now.
I very much enjoyed the alternating pov's sprinkled throughout the book, this elevated the novel by showing how men and women were impacted in different ways that this new society has impacted them and their ways of living.
This book was wonderfully detailed and well paced until the end which left me not wanting to put the book down and see it through to the last page!
